Monthly Review Template (Printable PDF & GoodNotes)
A monthly reflection page. First rate six parts of the month from 1 to 5: energy, focus, health, relationships, money and joy. Then fill four boxes: wins, lessons, what drained me, and next month's focus. It takes about fifteen minutes and makes the next month's plan much easier.

Getting the most from a monthly review.
Rate first, write second
Circle the six ratings quickly, without overthinking. The numbers give you a snapshot before you start explaining, and comparing them month to month shows trends you might not notice in the writing.
Count small wins
The wins box is for anything that went right: a hard conversation you had, a week you stuck to your budget, a walk you didn't skip. If you only write big achievements, most months will look empty.
Be honest about what drained you
This box is the most useful one. Late nights, a certain meeting, scrolling, one draining friendship: when the same thing shows up two months running, you know what to change.
Pick one focus, not five
Next month's focus works best as one or two lines. Choose the area with the lowest rating, or the thing that drained you most, and decide one change. Write it on next month's calendar page too.
Do it on the last weekend of the month
Put a recurring reminder on your calendar. Reviewing before the new month starts means your focus can shape the plan, rather than being an afterthought in week two.

What is a monthly review?
A short check-in at the end of each month where you look at how it went, what you learned and what to change. This template structures it with six ratings and four writing boxes so it doesn't turn into a blank-page diary entry.
How long does a monthly review take?
Ten to twenty minutes. The ratings take a minute; most of the time goes on the four boxes. If you also keep a planner, flicking back through the month's pages first helps.
How is it different from the year in review?
The monthly review is shorter and practical: ratings, wins and one focus for next month. The year in review is a bigger reflection on moments, people and lessons. Many people use the monthly pages to fill in the yearly one.
Can I get it with the month already printed?
Yes, in a full planner. Each month gets its own dated review page, linked from the month's calendar, so you never need to write the month in.
