Wedding planning checklist for your timeline

How long until the wedding?

Also: birthday planners by number, anniversary planners by year, or the wedding planner.

Questions

Questions

How far in advance should you plan a wedding?

Twelve to eighteen months is typical for a large wedding; six months or less works well for a smaller one. Pick your timeline above.

What should be booked first?

The venue and date, then the photographer and caterer. Those book up first; most other things can be arranged later.

When do wedding invitations go out?

Usually 8–12 weeks before the wedding, with RSVPs back about four weeks before. Destination weddings go out earlier.

Is the checklist printable?

Yes. The planner downloads as a hyperlinked PDF for iPad or Android, or as a print-ready Letter or A4 PDF.
