Getting the most from a daily routine.
Build each routine from what you already do
Start by writing your current morning as it really is, then change one or two steps. A routine that's close to your real life is easier to keep than an ideal one copied from somebody else.
Keep each list to five or six steps
Long routines collapse on busy days. Put the steps that matter most first, so that even when you only manage half of the list, you've done the important half.
Use "after work or school" as a transition
The hour after you get home is where evenings drift. A short list such as change clothes, unpack bag, ten-minute tidy and start dinner makes the switch from work to home deliberate.
Make the weekly reset a fixed slot
Sunday afternoon is popular: laundry, meal plan, check the calendar, clear the inbox, reset the kitchen. It stops small jobs piling up into a big weekend clean.
Print it for the fridge, duplicate it for kids
A printed copy on the fridge or bathroom mirror works better than one hidden in an app. For children, write the steps simply and add a small drawing next to each.

What should a daily routine include?
The basics that keep you running: waking, washing, eating, moving, and getting ready for the next day. Add one or two things that matter to you, such as reading, prayer or a walk. The template splits it into morning, after work or school, and evening.
Can I use it as a kids' routine chart?
Yes. Write simple steps like brush teeth, get dressed and pack your bag. Older children can tick the checkboxes themselves; younger ones may prefer the chore chart or star chart templates.
Should I tick the boxes every day?
Print one copy per week, or use it in GoodNotes and erase the ticks. Some people only tick while building a new routine and stop once it's habit.
How is it different from the habit tracker?
The routine page lists steps in the order you do them; the habit tracker records whether you did a habit on each day of the month. Many people use both: routines to plan, the tracker to check.
