Who it's for
Families with children from toddler age up, shared households and flatmates, and parents who want fairer chores between siblings.
Getting the most from a chore chart.
Choose age-appropriate chores
Toddlers can put toys away; school-age kids can set the table and feed pets; teens can do laundry and cook a simple meal. Cross out and rewrite chores to fit.
Keep each child's list short
Five chores is the maximum on the family chart for a reason. A short list children can finish is more motivating than a long one.
Agree what "done" means
"Tidy room" means different things to a parent and a nine-year-old. Agree a quick checklist, like bed made, floor clear and clothes in the basket.
Use points for rewards
Give each chore a point value and add them up on Sunday. Points can turn into screen time, a treat or allowance.
Put it at eye level
Stick it on the fridge at the kids' height with a pen nearby. Children tick more when they don't have to ask for the chart.

Page one is a kids' chart with six chores across seven days. Page two is a family chart with a section for each of six people: a name line, five chore rows, a tick box per day and points.
Can I change the chores?
Yes. On the kids' chart, cross out a chore and write your own. The family chart's chore rows are blank.
Should I pay for chores?
That's up to your family. Some pay for every chore, some give an allowance for extra chores only, and some don't pay at all. The allowance tracker template helps if you do.
What's in the family chore chart planner?
A chore list with points, zone cleaning, seasonal chores, weekly family chore charts, a rewards and points tracker and an allowance tracker.
