Before planning, look in the fridge and cupboards. Build the first two or three dinners around what needs using up.
The plan has rows for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks across the week. Most people only plan dinners and leave the other rows loose.
Each week has its own grocery list split into produce, dairy and eggs, meat and fish, pantry, frozen and household, so the shop follows the aisles.
The prep-ahead box on each meal plan lists jobs like washing salad or cooking rice that make weeknights faster.
When a dinner is a hit, write it on a recipe card. After a few months you have a rotation to plan from, and planning gets quicker.
Note each shop on the expense log and compare it with the grocery line on the monthly budget. After a month or two you'll know what a normal week costs, which makes the plan more realistic.
A meal planner needs to connect three things: the plan, the shopping and the money. This one includes:
Month calendars and a weekly page in columns, useful for noting busy evenings before you plan meals. There are no daily pages, so the planner stays light.
A weekly meal plan with prep-ahead lists, a weekly grocery list sorted by aisle, and 20 recipe cards with ingredients and method.
Daily routines, a monthly chore chart and extra grocery lists, for running the kitchen as part of the household.
A monthly budget, expense log and bill tracker, so you can see the grocery bill fall as meal planning becomes a habit.
Every section can be switched off in the builder, and sections from other planners can be added.
A digital meal planner comes with you to the shop: open this week's grocery list on your tablet and tick items off as you go. Recipes are a tap away from the plan.
A printable meal planner works well on the fridge, where the whole household can see what's for dinner. Many families print the weekly meal plan and grocery list on A4 or US Letter each week and keep the recipe cards in a binder.
One goal, followed through a single week. The milestone and weekly actions are the kind of lines the AI goal step writes onto your month and week pages; the daily notes are what you add by hand.

Dated by default, starting in January 2027. You can pick any start month and year (including this month), 12 or 18 months, and Monday or Sunday weeks. Or switch to undated and write the dates in yourself, so a skipped week isn't wasted.
Only the goal parts, and only if you want it to. Type up to six goals and the AI writes a milestone for each month and a short action for each week onto your month and week pages, plus a motto for each month. You can edit every line before you download. Everything else, from the calendar pages to the trackers, is yours to fill in by hand. You can try it 3 times a day without an account.
With the default settings it comes to about 277 pages. That includes 12 month pages, 53 weekly pages, the Meals, Home & Meals and Budget pages and 20 notes pages. Switching off daily pages or sections makes it shorter, and the builder shows the total as you change things.
