Who it's for
Christians starting a daily quiet time, women's and men's Bible study groups, youth groups, and anyone who wants a simple method for studying scripture. Pastors and small group leaders also use it to prepare a passage before teaching, since the observation box quickly shows what to emphasise.
Getting the most from a soap bible study.
Choose a short passage
One to five verses is enough for one page. Depth matters more than length.
Write the scripture out by hand
Copying the words slows you down and helps you notice details you'd skim when reading.
Ask simple questions
In observation: who is speaking, to whom, what's repeated, what's surprising? Write what you notice.
Make application personal and specific
"Call my sister and apologise" rather than "be kinder". One concrete step is enough.
Write the prayer as a conversation
Pray the passage back in your own words. It's a natural way to finish.
Keep a memory verse from each week
Choose one verse from your week's studies to memorise. Write it on a card and read it daily.

Need help importing it? See devices and apps or the FAQ.
What is the S.O.A.P. Bible study method?
Scripture, observation, application, prayer: read and write out a passage, note what stands out, decide how it applies to your life and respond in prayer.
How long does a SOAP study take?
Fifteen to thirty minutes for a short passage.
Can I use it with a reading plan?
Yes. Pick one verse or passage from each day's reading and study it on this page.
What's in the Bible study planner?
A Bible in a year plan, prayer list, sermon notes, S.O.A.P. study pages and verses to memorise, plus gratitude, goals and reviews.
Can groups use it together?
Yes. Everyone studies the same passage during the week, then shares observations and applications at the group meeting.
Which Bible translation should I use?
Whichever you read most easily. Some people compare two translations in the observation box.
