Your goal
Write in my Advent journal every day until Christmas
Your goal
Do one act of kindness each day of Advent
Your goal
Read through the Christmas story with my family
In 2026 Advent begins on Sunday 29 November. Day 1 of the journal is that Sunday, and day 26 is Christmas Eve.
Write the day's reading at the top of each page: from your church's Advent plan, a devotional book, or the Christmas story in Luke and Matthew.
Each day has a reflection question built around hope, peace, joy and love, the themes of the four Advent candles.
Note an act of kindness for the day, small or large, and colour a square on the Advent countdown.
Read through the month's pages and write what you want to carry into the new year.
An Advent devotional journal should be simple enough to keep up in a busy December. This one includes:
Dated month calendars from November to January, starting this month during the season, with a weekly page for each week for church, family and Christmas plans. No daily calendar pages: the 26 Advent day pages do that job.
An Advent countdown with 26 squares and boxes for hope, peace, joy and love, then 26 daily pages with a reading, a reflection prompt, a prayer, an act of kindness and gratitude.
Prayer lists, a sermon notes page for every week, S.O.A.P. study pages, scripture memory pages and a Bible reading plan for the new year.
Weekly gratitude pages, affirmations and 24 journal pages for longer reflections.
Every section can be switched off in the builder, and sections from other planners can be added.
A digital Advent journal fits a few minutes before bed on a tablet, and the side tabs jump straight to the countdown or today's page.
A printed Advent journal works well for families: print it on A5 or Half Letter, keep it with the Advent wreath, and let children colour the countdown squares.
One goal, followed through a single week. The milestone and weekly actions are the kind of lines the AI goal step writes onto your month and week pages; the daily notes are what you add by hand.

See all themesIn Western churches Advent begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas, which in 2026 is Sunday 29 November. It runs to Christmas Eve, so this year's Advent has 26 days, one page each. Orthodox churches keep a longer Nativity Fast.
It has a reading field on each daily page rather than printed readings, so you can follow your church's Advent plan, a devotional book or the Christmas story in Luke and Matthew.
You can build this Advent journal and flip through every page in your browser for free, with a watermark. The tabs and links work in the preview, so you can check the layout before you pay. The clean PDF is $12 once, or included in Pro at $49 a year for unlimited planners. There is no free download of the full planner.

Download the iPad size for GoodNotes, Notability, Noteshelf, Xodo, Collanote or ZoomNotes; the Android size for Samsung Notes, Penly, Flexcil or Xodo; or the E-ink size for reMarkable, Kindle Scribe, Boox and Supernote. Yes. Choose A5, A4, US Letter or Half Letter in the builder for a printable PDF with a wider inner margin for hole punching. Printable and digital sizes come with the same purchase, so you can use the Advent journal on a tablet and print the pages you want on paper.
Only the goal parts, and only if you want it to. Type up to six goals and the AI writes a milestone for each month and a short action for each week onto your month and week pages, plus a motto for each month. You can edit every line before you download. Everything else, from the calendar pages to the trackers, is yours to fill in by hand. You can try it 3 times a day without an account.
With the default settings it comes to about 157 pages. That includes 3 month pages, 14 weekly pages, the Advent, Faith and Gratitude & Journal pages and 20 notes pages. Switching off sections makes it shorter, and the builder shows the total as you change things.
Set your dates, device and goals, flip through the preview free, and pay only when it's right.
