Who it's for
Classroom teachers who want their week on one page, elementary teachers planning by subject, and specialists such as music, PE or art teachers who see many classes a week.
Getting the most from a weekly lesson plan.
Label periods with classes
Write the class or subject next to each period label, especially if you teach different groups at the same time on different days.
Keep each box to the essentials
Topic, objective in a few words and page or resource. Detail belongs in a full lesson plan; this page is the week at a glance.
Mark assessments and events
Circle or highlight quizzes, observations, field trips and assemblies so you see them when planning the rest of the week.
Plan Thursday afternoon
Planning next week before Friday gives time to photocopy, gather materials and swap periods if needed.
Keep last year's grids
A year of weekly grids is a ready-made scope and sequence for next year, and a record if anyone asks what was taught when.
Write page numbers and resources
A box that says "textbook p. 42–44, worksheet 3" means you, a teaching assistant or a substitute can pick up the lesson without hunting for materials. It also makes it easy to reuse the week next year.

About this weekly lesson plan template
Need help importing it? See devices and apps or the FAQ.
How many periods does it have?
Six rows, Period 1 to Period 6. If you teach more, use the space between rows, or print two pages.
Can elementary teachers use it?
Yes. Rename the rows by subject (reading, writing, maths, science, social studies, specials) instead of periods.
How is it different from the lesson plan template?
This page is the week at a glance across all your periods. The lesson plan template is a detailed plan for one lesson.
What's in the teacher planner?
A class roster, seating charts, weekly lesson plans, detailed lesson plans, attendance, a gradebook, a parent contact log and substitute plans.
Can I use it for homeschool?
Yes. Rename the periods by subject or child. The homeschool planner template is designed for that.
