How to use it

Getting the most from a visa document checklist.

  1. Check the official list first

Every visa route has its own requirements. Use this checklist to organise, but compare it against the official guidance for your visa.

  2. Cross out what doesn't apply

Not every route needs an English test, a medical or a sponsorship certificate. Strike through what isn't needed so the list is accurate.

  3. Check passport validity early

Many visas need a passport valid well beyond your stay. Renewing can take weeks, so check it first.

  4. Log every reference number

Application numbers, payment receipts and appointment bookings go in the timeline's reference column. You'll need them.

  5. Keep copies of everything

Scan every document and keep copies in a folder in the same order as the checklist.
