Who it's for
Adult readers with a yearly goal, book clubs, teachers sending reading home, parents encouraging kids to read, and students completing a school reading challenge.
Getting the most from a reading log.
Log books when you start them
Write the title and start date on day one. Books you abandon are still worth recording; they tell you what you don't enjoy.
Use a rating you'll remember
Stars, a score out of 10 or a simple yes or no on rereading. Consistency matters more than precision.
Count pages for kids
For children, the pages column makes progress visible. Add up pages each week and celebrate milestones like 500 pages.
Use it for reading challenges
Number the rows to track a goal like 25 books this year, or a school reading challenge.
Pair it with book reviews
For books worth remembering, write a book review page too. The log is the list; the review is the memory.
Celebrate milestones
Ten books, 1,000 pages, a full term of nightly reading: mark milestones with a star in the margin. For children especially, a visible milestone is a strong reason to keep going.
Included in 9 planners
This template is a page in each of these planners. Open one to see everything else that comes with it.
