Who it's for
People asked by a dietitian or doctor to keep a food diary, those investigating IBS, reflux or food intolerances, anyone working on mindful or emotional eating, and people who simply want to see what they really eat in a week.
Getting the most from a food diary.
Choose daily or weekly
Use the daily page when you want detail, such as for a dietitian, an elimination diet or spotting symptoms. Use the weekly grid for a lighter overview of what you're eating.
Write it down as you eat
Logging at the end of the day misses snacks and drinks. Keep the page or your tablet nearby and add each item when you eat it.
Rate hunger before and fullness after
The hunger and fullness scores show whether you're eating when you're hungry and stopping when you're satisfied, which is often more useful than calorie counts.
Use mood and symptoms for patterns
Bloating, headaches, low energy or cravings: note them alongside the food. After a couple of weeks, connections start to show.
Bring it to appointments
Dietitians and doctors often ask for a three- to seven-day food diary. A completed page makes the conversation specific.

What should I write in a food diary?
What you ate and drank, roughly how much, and when. This template also asks how hungry and full you were and how you felt, which helps you understand why, not just what.
Does it count calories?
No. There's no calorie column, on purpose. If you want numbers, the macro tracker template logs protein, carbs, fat and calories.
Can I use it for IBS or food intolerances?
Yes. The mood and symptoms column is useful for tracking reactions. Follow your doctor's or dietitian's advice on any elimination diet.
What's in the food journal planner?
A weekly food log for every week, 31 daily food diary pages and a monthly symptom tracker, all linked from the side tabs.
