Pumping Log Template (Printable PDF & GoodNotes)

Two pages for pumping. The pumping log has a date line and a row for each session with the time, minutes, left, right, total and notes. The milk stash page records the date pumped, amount, fridge or freezer, use-by date and whether it's been used.

Pumping Log template preview, Page 1: Pumping Log

Shown for iPad in the Blush Boho theme. Printable downloads use white paper (there's a dark mode preview below); the e-ink version is black and white.

What's on it

2 pages, ready to fill in.

  • Page 1, Pumping Log: Write-in lines for date; a table with columns for time, minutes, left, right, total and notes
  • Page 2, Milk Stash: A table with columns for date pumped, amount, fridge / freezer, use by and used
  • Undated, so you can print or duplicate it as often as you need

Who it's for

Exclusively pumping parents, those pumping at work, parents of babies in neonatal care asked to record volumes, and anyone building a freezer stash before returning to work.

How to use it

Getting the most from a pumping log.

  1. Log each side separately

Writing left and right amounts shows if one side produces more, which is normal, and helps you notice changes in supply.

  2. Note what might affect supply

Sleep, hydration, stress, illness, a new pump part or your period: a few words in the notes column can explain a dip.

  3. Date every bag or bottle

Label stored milk with the date pumped and copy it into the milk stash log. It makes first-in, first-out easy.

  4. Follow storage guidance

Write the use-by date based on the guidance your midwife or health service gives for fridge and freezer storage, and tick milk off when it's used.

  5. Use the dark version at night

Night pumping is easier to log on a dim screen. The dark theme preview shows how the page looks.

Questions

About this pumping log template

Need help importing it? See devices and apps or the FAQ.

What does the pumping log track?

Session time, minutes pumped, left and right amounts, total and notes, with about twelve sessions per day page. The milk stash page tracks stored milk.

Does it work for exclusive pumping?

Yes. Exclusive pumpers often use a page per day; the pumping log planner includes 60 day pages for that reason.

Does it use ml or oz?

Either; no units are printed. Write ml or oz at the top.

How long can I store breast milk?

It depends on where it's stored and your local health guidance. Ask your midwife, health visitor or lactation consultant, and write the use-by dates they recommend in the stash log.

Can I use it to track supply over time?

Yes. Add up each day's total and write it at the bottom of the page. A week of daily totals shows whether supply is steady, rising or dipping.
