What's on it

2 pages, ready to fill in.

  • Page 1, Seasonal Maintenance: Boxes for spring, summer, autumn and winter
  • Page 2, Home Maintenance Log: A table with columns for date, task, area, cost, done by and next due
  • Undated, so you can print or duplicate it as often as you need

Who it's for

First-time homeowners, landlords, people who've had an expensive repair that regular maintenance might have prevented, and anyone selling a house who wants a record of work done.

How to use it

Getting the most from a home maintenance checklist.

  1. Add your home's own jobs

Pools, septic tanks, wood burners, solar panels and garden machinery all need regular care. Add them to the season they belong in.

  2. Book services early

Boiler, furnace and air conditioning services book up before winter and summer. Use the start of each season to make the calls.

  3. Log every job and its cost

The maintenance log is useful when something breaks again, when you budget for next year and when you sell the house.

  4. Fill in next due

Filters, alarm batteries and services repeat. Writing the next due date turns the log into a reminder list.

  5. Keep receipts and warranties together

File receipts in the same order as the log, or note where they're stored in the done-by column.
