Guide

How to use a medical school planner

Medical school is a long run of blocks, exams and rotations, with board prep running underneath. A medical school planner keeps lectures, question banks and clinical shifts in one calendar, and leaves room for rest.
  1. Set up each block

Copy exam dates into the exam planner and lecture schedules into the class schedule at the start of every block.

  2. Plan revision by the week

Use the revision timetable to spread review across the week instead of cramming before the exam.

  3. Log question bank sessions

Record the topic, number of questions, score, weak areas and a review date. Patterns tell you where to focus.

  4. Make drug cards as you go

Each drug card has the class, action, uses, dose and route, side effects, contraindications and notes.

  5. Track rotations and shifts

The rotation log records site, supervisor, hours and skills (no patient identifiers). The shift schedule handles clinical-year rotas.

  6. Guard your wellbeing

The wellness tracker and self-care menu are there because burnout is common. Plan rest like you plan revision.

Digital vs printable medical school planner

A digital med school planner sits next to lecture slides and question bank tabs on a tablet. Paste diagrams into Cornell notes and duplicate drug cards as you need them.

Printed drug cards and a weekly revision timetable on the desk are a good complement. Keep clinical notes general and follow your hospital's rules.

Questions

Medical school planner questions

Does it include practice questions?

No. The question bank tracker is for logging your sessions from whichever question bank you use: topic, number of questions, score, weak areas and when to review.

Can I record patient details on rotations?

No. The rotation log is for dates, sites, supervisors, hours and skills only. Follow your school's and hospital's privacy rules.

Is there a free medical school planner?

You can build this medical school planner and flip through every page in your browser for free, with a watermark. The tabs and links work in the preview, so you can check the layout before you pay. The clean PDF is $12 once, or included in Pro at $49 a year for unlimited planners. There is no free download of the full planner.

Does it work with GoodNotes, Notability, Samsung Notes and e-ink tablets?

Yes. Download the iPad size for GoodNotes, Notability, Noteshelf, Xodo, Collanote or ZoomNotes; the Android size for Samsung Notes, Penly, Flexcil or Xodo; or the E-ink size for reMarkable, Kindle Scribe, Boox and Supernote. The links work in any app that follows PDF links, usually in read mode rather than pen mode. Every size is included in the price.

Can I print the medical school planner?

Yes. Choose A5, A4, US Letter or Half Letter in the builder for a printable PDF with a wider inner margin for hole punching. Printable and digital sizes come with the same purchase, so you can use the medical school planner on a tablet and print the pages you want on paper.

When does the 2026–2027 medical school planner start?

It starts in August and runs to July by default. In the builder you can choose any start month and year, including this month so you don't pay for pages that are already past, and a 12 or 18-month length. Switch to undated if you'd rather write the dates yourself.

Does the AI fill in the medical school planner for me?

Only the goal parts, and only if you want it to. Type up to six goals and the AI writes a milestone for each month and a short action for each week onto your month and week pages, plus a motto for each month. You can edit every line before you download. Everything else, from the calendar pages to the trackers, is yours to fill in by hand. You can try it 3 times a day without an account.

How many pages is the medical school planner?

With the default settings it comes to about 555 pages. That includes 12 month pages, 53 weekly pages, 365 daily pages, the Medical School, School, Shift Work and Wellness pages and 20 notes pages. Switching off daily pages or sections makes it shorter, and the builder shows the total as you change things.

Make it yours in about a minute.

Set your dates, device and goals, flip through the preview free, and pay only when it's right.
